Red Wine Could Actually Help You Lose Weight

We've all been told that the secret to weight loss is to cut out alcohol from your diet. Take Alexis Ren's diet, for example. She replaces alcohol with two liters of water every day. However, recent studies show that a daily glass of red wine might actually be the solution to weight loss.
So, how does it work?
There's a science behind this wonderful weight loss solution. Red wine has always been thought to be heart healthy, and has even been said to be the secret to flawless skin and hair, but can it be a diet hack too?
The secret is a compound found in red wine called resveratrol. It helps convert "white fat" into "beige fat," which is easier for our bodies to burn. But don't give up on your gym membership yet, any diet plan should be paired with exercise for the best results.
For those who love sipping on that vino, this is music to your ears. However, if wine isn't for you, there are plenty of ways to increase your resveratrol intake. The truth is, a lot of the important micronutrients get filtered out when wine is made, so the true resveratrol jack pot is in fruit.
Red wine gets its strong source of resveratrol from grapes. Fruits like blueberries, strawberries and grapes are all natural sources of resveratrol and will still satisfy your sweet tooth!
Of course, it's always important to keep a healthy diet and exercise regularly. Unfortunately, we can't forget the fact that wine has calories and we have to exercise to burn them off. On the plus side, drinking red wine in moderation will help keep your metabolism functioning properly and even prevent obesity. Cheers to resveratrol!

How toxins affect your Human sexual energy

Naijabroadcast releases a report this morning how toxins affect human sexual energy. according to Oladapo Ashiru, Professor of Anatomy/Consultant Reproductive Endocrinologist, Studies have shown that men who engaged in regular physical activity lowered their risk of experiencing sexual dysfunction. Remember, when using exercise as a drug, it’s important to vary your routine.
Also optimising your diet based on your body’s unique nutritional type will help your libido. We each have a unique nutritional type with varying demands for the ratios of macronutrients (fats, proteins and carbohydrates) to function optimally. When you are eating the foods your body was designed to eat, you will notice improvements in every aspect of your health. Some people do better eating mainly proteins, some do better eating mainly carbohydrates and some do better eating a combination of proteins and carbohydrate. You will need to do tests to find out which metabolic type you are.
Take supplements
Consider using choline and vitamin B5 supplements. The neurotransmitter that triggers the sexual message, in both men and women, is acetylcholine. With too little ACH, sexual activity goes down. One way to safely and effectively enhance ACH levels in your body is to take choline supplements (1,000-3,000 mg) and vitamin B5 (500-1,500 mg).
According to a study on the impact of sex on stress, as measured by blood pressure levels in stressful situations, sexual intercourse may be one of the best ways to calm your nerves.
Researchers asked nearly 50 men and women to maintain diaries for two weeks regarding how often they experienced full blown intercourse, masturbation, or sexual activity that excluded intercourse.
Afterward, patients were given tests measuring their stress levels involving public speaking and solving math problem aloud.
Those who had intercourse enjoyed the most relief, as their blood pressure levels normalised faster than the other groups. And, the beneficial effect lasted for at least a week. People who had abstained from any kind of sex, however, had the highest blood pressure response to stress.
It seems clear that healthy sexual relationships can be a powerful way to get rid of the jitters before that big business meeting. One possible reason for the effect could be the “pair bonding” hormone oxytocin. Sexual desires, as well as orgasm, are controlled by various influences on the brain and nervous system.
Researchers have revealed many similarities between men and women; contrary to popular belief, for example, visual stimuli spur sexual stirrings in both. Brain imaging studies show that achieving orgasm involves far more than merely heightened arousal. It requires a release of inhibitors, culminating in a shutdown of the brain’s centre of vigilance in both sexes, and a widespread neutral power failure in women.
Lose weight
Being fat can have a negative effect on your sexual desire and satisfaction. New research shows that if you are fat and can lose about 13 per cent of your body weight over two years you can feel more sexually attractive and have greater sexual desire. So you don’t need drugs to have a better sex life. Losing a bit of weight may just do the trick.
To really lose weight, it is helpful to treat exercise like a drug. When trying to lose weight gradually increase the amount you are exercising to 60 to 90 minute a day. Initially, the frequency is daily. This is a treatment dose until you normalise your weight or insulin levels. Once it has normalised, you will only need to exercise three to four times a week and include more anaerobic, speed work and strength training, as these are major keys to staying healthy. You should exercise hard enough so that it is difficult to talk to someone next to you.
When you are exercising that hard, your cardiovascular system is under such a significant amount of stress that the mere act of talking, makes you unable to provide your body with enough oxygen. However, if you cannot carry on a conversation at all, then you have gone too far and you need to decrease intensity.
And diet is just as important for weight loss. Remember, the foods that may be healthy for you, and vice-versa. Thus, eating according to your specific nutritional type is the proven way to ascertain which foods work best for you.
That is some people are healthier eating more protein, some people more healthy eating more carbohydrate and some people need both protein and carbohydrate. If you tend to put on weight easily you are likely a protein type. Also, controlling your insulin levels is important to optimize your health. You see, when you eat grains and sugar your insulin levels increase. When insulin levels increase, you are telling your body to store carbohydrates as fat and not to release any of the stored fat. (This makes it impossible for you to use your own stored body fat for energy.) so the excess carbohydrates in your diet not only make you gain weight, they make sure you keep that weight on.
By cutting grains and sugars from your diet, you will not only tame your weight but also fight illnesses. Sex has also been found to boost self-esteem and improve intimacy in your relationship. This is because sex and orgasms result in increased levels of the hormone oxytocin – the “love” hormone – that helps you feel bonded to your partner.
As oxytocin increases, so do hormones known as endorphins, which in turn lessens feelings of pain related to everything from headaches and arthritis to symptoms of PMS. It can also help you to get a better night’s sleep.
It may sound tongue-in-cheek to recommend more sex as an important health tool, it does appear that is the case. If you are fortunate enough to be in a mutually monogamous relationship, frequent sex is an excellent way to improve your health and even prevent future disease. “Frequent” is all relative, of course, and although the above study counted twice a week as frequent, other studies have found that having sex even once a week can benefit your health in many ways.

A Glass of Beer Every Day Could Keep Health Practitionist Away

Drinking one serving, or a pint, of beer each day could reduce the risk of stroke or heart disease by enhancing levels of "good" cholesterol.

Shue Huang, a Ph.D. candidate at Penn State University in Pennsylvania, studied 80,000 healthy Chinese adults and their normal drinking habits for six years. Those who consistently drank moderately were found to have a slower decline in levels of good cholesterol, or high-density lipoprotein (HDL). For men, this amounted to one or two servings of alcohol daily. For women, moderate consumption is defined as a lesser half to one serving per day. The study found that when compared to heavy drinking or no drinking at all, minimal daily alcohol consumption slowed the decline of good cholesterol, thereby shrinking a person’s risk of stroke or heart disease.
The study also surveyed the consumption of hard liquor and found that only light drinkers saw slower rates of HDL decline. Light drinking for men is defined as less than one serving per day. For women, it is zero to 0.4 servings per day. The study didn’t include enough wine drinkers to adequately conclude the effects of moderate wine consumption.
Because the study surveyed only Chinese adults, it’s unclear whether or not the results can be attributed to a broader population. However, the results are in keeping with the government’s suggestions for alcohol consumption. Federal dietary guidelines suggest limiting servings to one drink per day for women and up to two drinks per day for men.
Heart disease and stroke are major problems in the United States and throughout the world. Cardiovascular disease ranks as the number one killeraround the globe and accounts for 17.3 million deaths every day. That number is expected to rise to 23.6 million by 2030.
This is not the first time that researchers have touted the benefits of alcohol. In 2000, a Harvard School of Public Health study showed that moderate amounts of alcohol can cut heart-disease risk.

Science Confirms: Its "OK" Never to Wash Your Coffee Mug

FreeNaija
You’re getting ready to leave work for the day and you prep your desk for the morning. Maybe you restart your computer or throw out unnecessary scraps of paper. You also, if you’re like us, haphazardly wash your desk coffee mug. It would be gross not to at least give it a quick scrub, no? Turns out, not so much.
According to a recent column in The Wall Street Journal, it’s OK to never wash your mug. Wait…what?
As long as you aren’t sharing with anyone (which), it’s actually preferable to keep your mug unwashed, since the alternative involves scrubbing it with a communal sponge that’s probably full of other peoples’ germs.
And so continues the exciting tradition of our gross/lazy/not-good behaviors being validated by science.

10 TOP TIPS FOR EATING MORE REAL FOOD

10 Tips for Eating More Real Food

When we focus on the fact that we eat to nourish our bodies, we find we can simplify our nutrition philosophy to one simple concept: Eat real food. Whole foods are more nutrient dense and protective than their processed counterparts. Plus, they lack the added sugar, salt, additives, preservatives and more that we find in most processed foods. Moving away from processed foods and toward a whole-foods diet is one of the most meaningful lifestyle changes you can make. Here are 10 tips to help you make the switch.
1. Switch the statistics. The average American consumes far more processed food than fresh. Commit to reversing this. Create meals and snacks that are fresh first and only use processed foods to supplement the diet. Stock up on fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables, unprocessed meats, poultry and fish as well as nuts, seeds, beans, whole grains and unrefined, healthy fats. Keep costs down by limiting the animal proteins on your plate and buying in-season produce or their frozen counterparts.
2. Set goals. Give yourself a guideline for including more whole food. Set achievable goals like having a fruit and vegetable at every meal. The good news is that you’ll be focused on the foods you’re trying to include, which will naturally crowd out some of the junk.
3. Sensibly sip. It’s no secret that sugar-sweetened beverages are linked to obesity and health problems. Plus, they’re often laden with chemicals and artificial colors as well. Do yourself a favor and stick with the basics. Drink more water – set a daily water goal for added motivation.
4. Plan ahead. This straightforward concept is imperative. Maybe your first step is planning the time to head to the grocery store on a weekly basis. It could be putting together a whole foods-based shopping list. You may even choose recipes and plan out a menu of meals and snacks for the week. Wherever you are in the process, know that planning is a very important first step.
5. Shop smarter. Eating more whole foods doesn’t mean you have to abandon packaged foods all together. If a food is packaged, make sure you read the ingredient list. Choose foods that use the same ingredients you would use at home, period, and the fewer the ingredients the better. Another great tip is to avoid foods that have ingredients listed that you cannot purchase in the grocery store. This is a great way to weed out non-food ingredients, chemicals, preservatives and highly-processed foods.
6. Avoid added sugarsRefined sugars have made their way into most processed foods, including breads, cereals, salad dressings, nut butters and more. It’s hard to find a packaged food that doesn’t contain sugar. What’s the best way to find out if a food has added sugars? Read the ingredient list.
7. Start swapping. Challenge yourself to remove a few processed foods from your grocery cart each week, or at least make healthy upgrades in your processed food choices. You could choose a nut butter that lists nuts as the sole ingredient instead of one with added sugars and hydrogenated fats. Maybe you swap your fruited yogurt for plain, or canned beans for dried? You could ditch your tortilla chips and stock up of vegetables for dipping. Once you get motivated you can even start making DIY versions of your favorite packaging products, such as salad dressings, bread, sauces and nut butters. You may find it’s easier than you think.

ECOWAS Summons Emergency Meeting On Ebola Virus

http://www.channelstv.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/ECOWAS-EU-UNDP-small-arms-control.jpgThe Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has summoned an emergency meeting in Accra, Ghana to find a solution to the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) ravaging Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea.
According to a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan will join other West African leaders including representatives from the United Nations and the World Health Organization (WHO) to discuss ways to assist these countries and effectively help them deal with the virus
The summit would also seek greater international support and collaboration for the containment of the Ebola outbreak.
The President is expected to avail the gathering of the benefit of Nigeria’s successful containment of the deadly EVD after it entered the country in July 2014 through the Liberian-American, Mr. Patrick Sawyer.
Nigeria was the first country certified by the World Health Organisation (WHO) to have successfully contained the Ebola Virus as it has not reported new cases since August 31.
The declaration was made on October 20, 42 days (twice the incubation period) after the last confirmed case of Ebola Virus Disease was discharged from the isolation ward having tested negative for Ebola virus, an indication that the chains of transmission had been broken.
According to the CDC, Nigeria reported their first case July 20 when Patrick Sawyer traveled from Liberia to Lagos, Nigeria. He exposed 72 other passengers with the virus. Nigerian health officials found everyone who had been in contact with Sawyer and developed a mobilization plan.
They reached more than 26,000 households in this process. Nigeria also established the Ebola Management Center in the process.
